Ancient...

Fair Gods...

Messiah...

"Ancient..."
is a review of John L. Sorenson's An Ancient American Setting for the Book of Mormon. While this work is
not the last word on archaeology and the Book of Mormon, it is the essential starting place.

The "Fair
Gods..." review is of Terry J. O'Brien's Fair Gods and Feathered Serpents. While this
is a refreshing departure in methodology from typical LDS treatments of the Fair Gods/Jesus Christ correlation,
it still suffers from difficulties in both the data analyzed and the interpretive model applied.

The "Messiah..."
is a review of Bruce Warren and Thomas S. Ferguson's The Messiah in America. The review examines the nature
of the revision by Warren to Ferguson's earlier One Fold One Shepherd as well as discusses how well the
newer book achieves the documentation for the title of the book.

Not all works on the Book of Mormon's relationship to the real world are created equal. Unfortunately,
most of us don't have the background to judge them.
This is my personal judgement based on my study of Mesoamerica. |
